Boot Camp was hard as usual. Schools were closed due to snow so I took the kids with me to it. They had a blast...there was a blown up jumpy house, and a trampoline. Lily was in heaven. Tripp ran around with all the other boys tackling each other. It was great. I got in my workout and they ran off a lot of energy from being cooped up inside for two days. Snow shuts down the entire town here....so no school Thurs or Friday. I hope they go back Monday.

No real funny stories to tell. I did have my cheat....and I only get one cheat.....one meal a week. Well mine was the brownie I ate on Thursday night. The victory is that I only had one...now it was a big one....but just one all the same.

I went to the gym yesterday and did 30 minutes of cardio and then tonight I will go to yoga at my church.....It is awesome, and it is sooooo hard.....I SWEAT! My arms are still really sore and tired from Friday...she worked us out hard....so tonight in Yoga, I know I will hurt.

It was a great week....I worked out 6 days...I actually think my fanny is a little lifted up...a tad bit higher than before. Three more weeks til the actual judgement day.

Day 3

Ow Ow Ow....I mean, Ow! At 8:00 tonight I am hurtin'....like hurting to sit, hurtin to get up...you know the kind of hurtin when it hurts to sit on the potty.....I am about to pop a few ibuprofens and drink a 100 cal. protein shake before bed....Kelly said to do that before bed so my mucsles dont break down but build up and tone. The reason alot of people work out so hard but still are flabby is because they don't get enough protein in their diet.

Well, Boot camp was just like you would think Boot camp would be! It kicked my rear! I loved how we started it today. Kelly opened with Black Eyed Peas, I gotta feeling….I love that song. Whenever Lily and I are in the car together and it comes on….we blast it and sing and dance in the car. It is so much fun! We played it in the kitchen yesterday after school and me and Lily and Tripp just danced in the kitchen to it. It was a moment to tuck away. So when she played it….I got the biggest smile…..and even though I had 59 more minutes of pure sweat and H*E*C*K* ( you thought I was gonna say it) I had that song to begin with.

At minute 56 we began a kinds shuffle. What you do is shuffle from one end to the other and back….Now I am a bit competitive and I will NOT be last. I don’t have to be first, but I refuse to be last. So I started in on that shuffle hard and heavy….I was actually in the lead. Keep it up….I am thinking about how awesome I am doing and BAM! I full on tripped over my foot, and fell and ROLLED!!!! YEP! I pulled a what my family affectionately calls a “shelli” and let me tell you I did it in STYLE! You know, my maiden name is Tripp. I mean to tell you if it had been on video, you would have wet your pants laughing and it would most definitely win on Funniest Home Videos. I cant wait to tell my kids. I just got up and laughed it off…asked my neighbor if it looked good. She was in too much pain to really notice….so I figure no one else really saw.

A lesson there I got was that, we can be cruising along in our day and think to ourselves, “Hey, I am pretty awesome….I am doing good“ Its called…..PRIDE…. And then the next thing you know…BAM we have gone and fallen or messed up somehow or someway…..You know I think it is in the Bible, that pride comes before a fall. Well I learned it today, literally!

I wore a big baggy shirt today and my workout leggings…..thinking I am gonna hide the flubber….I didn’t want my pants to seep down in those squats and everyone see my panties. So today I was prepared….I wore big baggy shirt over my pants. Today, Big Baggy Shirt…not so good. Kelly had us doing “Bear Crawls” You get on your hands and feet…bootie up in the air and walk that way forward to the line and then backwards back. Halfway into that I was flashing my belly and sports bra….cuz my shirt kept creeping up! GEEZE…..so the next round, I tucked the front of my big baggy shirt in my tight pants….lovely….and still, the back of my shirt crept up. Good thing it was all girls!

Kelly killed me with jump squats, frog jumps, burpies….and all kinds of other torture…..but you know what…I lived to tell you about it! So horray, I made it through another boot camp. Stay tuned for more adventures……

Peace Out

Day 2

Ouch is the word I said to myself this morning as I was getting out of bed at 5:30. Ouch cuz my body aches. And that is with taking 2 Advil the night before. Cant imagine what I would feel like if I hadn't taken them. Yesterday was a victory.....I had NO SUGAR!!!! Those brownies that my sweet Lily made were staring me down and calling my name. But, I didn't give in to the temptation. Usually I have to put them away in the pantry.....but nope...I am gonna be strong.

Today is my off day and I will run or walk out in this 20 degree weather......For my Spiritual Boot camp....

Yesterday, in Jesus Calling Devotion (if you don't have that, run don't walk to the store and buy it....it is so good) it spoke on God's love...it is measureless, His plans are infinite, and he plans for us limitless extravagance.....chew on that one. What would that look like in our lives if we received that?

I spent about an hour in Revelations 1-4. My Whole Woman Revolution Bible study starts up next week and it is on this. I can't wait to hear what Denise Hildreth teaches. I thought I would follow the Kay Arthur method of studying the Bible by going into it....Let me Say the New Inductive Study Bible is amazing. I love it. It is intense. I spent an hour reading it and then going thru the steps. I am only on step one of 10. But I have to remind myself, I am not in a race. I want to absorb as much as I can and retain it at the pace the Lord has for ME. I am so excited. Some things that stuck out to me....and if you wanna comment...here is your chance...

God is talking to the 7 churches. Each time he instructs them through John, he first tells them the good he sees in them. For Ephesus it was that they persevered, endured for God's sake, but then after he says the positive, he tells them what they need to fix. For Ephesus, it was they left their first love.

For Smyrna, He tells them to be faithful and not to fear what they are about to suffer.

For Pergamum He says that "to him who overcomes He will give some of the hidden manna-and on a white stone give a new name on it which no one knows but he who receives it."
NOW THAT STRUCK ME. I WANNA SOME HIDDEN MANNA, I WANT A SECRET NAME. Wouldn't that be cool. Now these are all just observances....so I haven't studied them yet......but boy I can't wait to hear what God has to say to me about it.

For Sardis He says "Wake Up! Strengthen what remains and remember what you have received and heard...and keep it and repent."
WOW...THAT IS A BUNCH TO CHEW ON TOO!

Then he says to them, "If you don't wake up, I will come like a thief and you will not know what hour I come to you (Rev 3:3) SO THAT STRUCK ME TOO....SO LIKE, IF I AM AWAKE, DOES THAT MEAN THAT I WONT' BE SURPRISED WHEN HE COMES? AND WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT MEAN TO GOD FOR ME TO BE AWAKE?

This is just a tidbit. I am getting ready to get into it more....but if you have any comments, I would love to hear them.

I pray you will have a blessed day today. Eat well, stay fit, and have some time with God today.

Love,

Shelli

Day 1

I am told that it isn't a successful workout if you ain't sweating....Well, let me first say, I ain't sweated so profusely in a while. I got there early so Kelly could take my measurements and weight. Of course I closed my eyes. I like denial. I told her she could tell me what it all said after our first 4 week session. So, its for Kelly to know and me and you to find out.

I knew it was gonna be a great workout and fun (well, maybe not fun yet) when the first song coming on was "Dancing Queen"... Oh what a song...brings back major memories. Memory #1 I am 7 or 8 and in my living room with my best friend Susan McAnnally. We loved to write songs, write plays, and choreograph to songs. We especially loved our 45 Dancing Queen by Abba. Oh we had that song choreographed well! Anytime anyone came over to the house, we performed for them. One time one of the deacons of Southside Baptist church came a'callin' and we decided to put on a show...we sang the Devil went down to Georgia and then followed it up with our routine to Dancing Queen! What fun. Not sure what the deacon thought...probably that my parents were going to hell (it was a Baptist Church) for lettin us sing about the devil and then dance on top of that!

Memory #2 was at Royal Family Kids Camp two summers ago. As a leader I was in charge of the Fantasy Center where the kids came to play dress up. Well, there were some clothes there for us big people too. Each day, I wore a different costume...and my alter ego's name was Roxy. Well, on the last full day, we had a talent show...and the kids got to dress up and perform for each other. They loved it...(Clean up duty for me wasn't so fun) Well, Roxy got herself into a prom dress and then Cindy Dycus dressed up like a man in a suit and we performed a routine to the song.....You guessed it, Dancing Queen. Well, just a teensy weensy bit into it, Cindy dipped me and dropped me and fell on top of me....(Not part of the plan...but very very funny) . So we got up and I kept it going.....but she was hurtin...and I didn't know....She finished the routine.....but, come to find out, she had torn her MCL.....Had to leave early and go home. Now when I see her at church we laugh and call each other Dancing Queen.

So I just knew that song was a gift to me...It was gonna be fun.
I think it was a good workout. I mean, if having dizzy spells and almost throwing up counts, then I'm all good. I am one day into it...I know I will get better and stronger, and I can't wait to see results. Kelly was hard. I know I am gonna die on Wednesday mornings cuz, her husband Joey does the 5:30 a.m. class and I have to do that class on Wed. due to my Bible Study. I told him today, "Please don't hurt me!" He just smiled....So more on that on Wednesday I suppose. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, I hear that you have to eat real healthy too....I began my day with oatmeal, pecans, and an egg......water....snack was a couple slices of Boars Head Turkey, apples and a laughing cow cheese wedge. I get to eat in an hour again. I am supposed to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours. Gotta drink lots of water too.....Oh Boy! Its gonna be a ride!

Boot Camp Begins

Okay here it is....No New Years Resolutions here......but...I am making a few new changes and am letting the world know about it...

As I will be 40 in a few weeks, I have realized that working out is more about me being healthy for my family than anything else. Sure, I wanna look good too, but inthe past, it was all about vanity now it is more about being healthy. Too many people in my circle of friends have been ill...some even died. One of my good friends, just had a major brain surgery 10 weeks ago. She is now teaching her fitness classes again, driving and life is going on as usual for her. She was so very physically and spiritually healthy and fit before the surgery and I know
it has made her recovery much quicker. It has been amazing to watch.

So I have decided that it is time for me to get not only physically healthy, but spiritually healthier. This last year, I have been soooo burned out on going to the gym. I have been discouraged because my son is now 8 and I haven't lost all that baby weight from him and finally just shut down. I have not been motivated at all to work out and when I have worked out, I have gone it alone. So here is my plan....You can hold me accountable...

I have joined a boot camp....and sister don't do group fitness. Anyone who knows me knows I go it alone. I can't do group fitness for two reasons. I don't like to look at myself in the mirror when I work out, and I get easily intimidated by the women in there. So I am taking a leap. I joined a boot camp for the next 6 months.....WOW....Bathing suit season Look out. Tomorrow, I go early for weight and measurements...not gonna be fun. Reality check!

I am also planning on an intense spiritual boot camp. I am in a Bible Study, I get up early in the morning already (sister don't do mornings either!) and have my quiet time with God in prayer and in the word....but, I just got this new Bible that teaches you how to study it more in depth. It is the Inductive Study Bible. I spent over one hour this week trying out this new way to study and it was only on John 15! Intense. How am I gonna find the time? I am gonna make it happen daily. It is my priority. Now, it may take me 3 to 4 years to go through the entire Bible...maybe longer!

But I will do it! So there it is girls....Out there for the world to see...now I am accountable....What are you gonna make happen this year? I would love to hear your feedback...

Blessings,

Shelli

more Christmas activities

Not the prettiest picture....but oh so good. We made oreo balls on Christmas Eve. If you have never had oreo balls or some call them oreo truffles...you simply have to make them. They aBoldre super easy. My friend Dinah taught me how to make these.....and she is so much better at making them pretty. All you do is put a whole pack of oreos in a food processor and grind them up finely. Then add a block of cream cheese to it and pulse it. It will be a real thick batter....scoop them into balls. Sometimes I put in the freezer to let the dough harden first. Then roll into balls. The last thing I do that I am still trying to perfect like my friend Dinah is dip in white almond bark. You can use dark chocolate almond bark too...this is just what I had on hand. Now ladies....there aint nothing low fat about these. They are yummy and rich and go strait to your hips...

Down below are the oldest girls. Such great cookie decorators and good buddies too. Olivia, Lily and Carleigh...cooking cousins

Christmas Morning was so special this year. We got to spend it with my dad (Pop) and his wife Melinda(Mimi) all to ourselves. The kids love their Pop and Mimi. It has been 13 years since I have woken up to have Christmas morning with my dad and I treasure it. Our morning was low key as we exchanged gifts. Lily was so excited to get the IPOD she was really hoping for. Tripp got his Florida Gators Jersey....I can't believe I allowed...FSU fan that I am. They were so happy. Now Santa only brings three gifts to them, since Jesus got three gifts from the wise men.....it has been a great tradition and keeps the unnecessary commercialism at bay.

Here is Lily with her new Purple IPOD Tripp loves his new jersey

My gift this year from Santa was my new Inductive Study Bible and my new mini laptop computer. I wasn't expecting the laptop...but really hoped for my new Bible. My old one that I love, I have worn out. I have had this one since college....it is 21 years old. Man, am I that old? I guess I am. After exchanging gifts, we sat down to a nice breakfast. My kids have enjoyed our traditional Monkey Bread and egg casserole every Christmas morning, so I made that. It was so yummy.

Later, we went over to my sisters for Christmas dinner....more on that on my next post. I hope you all had a wonderful time Christmas morning. For me it is so special to have family around. I would like to say we traditionally do the Christmas story and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. I try to do it...but this year, it didn't happen. I know my kids know the real meaning of Christmas, we talked about it a lot. They know the true meaning is that our heavenly father loved us so much, that he came to earth to become like us.....immortal and human....he came as a precious baby to grow up just like we did. He experienced everything we have...he understands our lives...our sufferings, our victories, our weaknesses, or strengths....he relates. He is not unapproachable. Everything we go through, He understands. The difference is that he was sinless....he sacrificed himself for us so that we can dwell with Him and in Him right now. He died on a cross...the most humiliating, shameful, painful death imaginable...for everyone of us....so that if we believe, we will be saved by grace. I am so thankful my Jesus was born. Without Christmas, we would not have redemption.

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas

What a wonderful time the Norvell's, Tripp's, and Schultz's have had this Christmas. Family time together is the best part of Christmas to me. We have had so much fun laughing, baking, eating, and just visiting with each other. Family is the best.

Yesterday, My sister and I assisted in the baking and decorating cookies for Santa. It was quite entertaining.......

I have to say, I thought I was patient....but I am not anything like my sister. She is so patient. The kitchen was completely covered in sprinkles......but the kids had so much fun.

In this picture, Lily, Tripp, Carleigh, and Sawyer are decorating away!

I think Sawyer was double dipping a little here.....

......Guilty.....

The kids just went to town on it. They ate lots of frosting and sprinkles. Like I Said, my sister has tons of patience.... more to come....stay tuned....
