Today, I am feelin' groovy.
I have been in Boot Camp for 11 weeks now, and I have had my hopeless moments of thinking, "is this really gonna work?" I have seen results, slowly. Lost a little weight. I have gotten stronger. Two days ago, was the first time I did REAL push ups......in sets! I did 15..then back down for 10....then back down for 8.....and then back down for 5. The entire time on my toes...not my knees. I know I am getting stronger. I am feeling better. But my clothes are still fitting me and I want them loose...so I can go buy me some new size 6's. I am ready for a smaller cup size in my bra. Not happening yet...BUT.....today, I am feeling groovy. Ya wanna know why?
I am feeling groovy because, today on March 17, I went to put on my designer jeans and I am on the last hole on my belt....and I have NO muffin...not even a teeny tiny one....AND.....My bottom is a completely different bottom than the one I had two months ago. It is lifted. I can tell where my hammies end and my glutes begin.....I cant believe it. It just may take this now 40 year old a little longer, but Boot camp is totally making me feel GROOVY. My abs have more definition....my arms...well, they are sculpting out. So, I am happy. I know with my body type....that the last place that the fat will drop off is my hips and thighs...but I am hangin in there....I will be ready for bathing suit season!
On top of that, I had the most delicious lunch today. I had leftover Salmon, and my friend Tera told me how to make an awesome veggie side dish...and it was really yummy and filling and I got lots of nutrition in.....I will call it a sweet potato hash....I will tell you how I made it....but this is straight from Tera's kitchen, not mine....
1 sweet potato...diced small...I used my food alligator
1 small sweet onion diced the same as the potato
couple of cloves of garlic sliced
about a cup of quartered brussel sprouts
olive oil...just a tad
salt and pepper
I combined all of this and I baked it in the oven at 400 for about 45 min. I covered it with foil for the first half of the time and then removed it. DELICIOUS! I had leftovers for tomorrow....
Boot camp was great today. Kelly killed our upper body....and boy those kettle bells are definitely a cardio workout....let me tell ya!
Have a super day!

Day 2
Ouch is the word I said to myself this morning as I was getting out of bed at 5:30. Ouch cuz my body aches. And that is with taking 2 Advil the night before. Cant imagine what I would feel like if I hadn't taken them. Yesterday was a victory.....I had NO SUGAR!!!! Those brownies that my sweet Lily made were staring me down and calling my name. But, I didn't give in to the temptation. Usually I have to put them away in the pantry.....but nope...I am gonna be strong.
Today is my off day and I will run or walk out in this 20 degree weather......For my Spiritual Boot camp....
Yesterday, in Jesus Calling Devotion (if you don't have that, run don't walk to the store and buy it....it is so good) it spoke on God's love...it is measureless, His plans are infinite, and he plans for us limitless extravagance.....chew on that one. What would that look like in our lives if we received that?
I spent about an hour in Revelations 1-4. My Whole Woman Revolution Bible study starts up next week and it is on this. I can't wait to hear what Denise Hildreth teaches. I thought I would follow the Kay Arthur method of studying the Bible by going into it....Let me Say the New Inductive Study Bible is amazing. I love it. It is intense. I spent an hour reading it and then going thru the steps. I am only on step one of 10. But I have to remind myself, I am not in a race. I want to absorb as much as I can and retain it at the pace the Lord has for ME. I am so excited. Some things that stuck out to me....and if you wanna comment...here is your chance...
God is talking to the 7 churches. Each time he instructs them through John, he first tells them the good he sees in them. For Ephesus it was that they persevered, endured for God's sake, but then after he says the positive, he tells them what they need to fix. For Ephesus, it was they left their first love.
For Smyrna, He tells them to be faithful and not to fear what they are about to suffer.
For Pergamum He says that "to him who overcomes He will give some of the hidden manna-and on a white stone give a new name on it which no one knows but he who receives it."
NOW THAT STRUCK ME. I WANNA SOME HIDDEN MANNA, I WANT A SECRET NAME. Wouldn't that be cool. Now these are all just observances....so I haven't studied them yet......but boy I can't wait to hear what God has to say to me about it.
For Sardis He says "Wake Up! Strengthen what remains and remember what you have received and heard...and keep it and repent."
WOW...THAT IS A BUNCH TO CHEW ON TOO!
Then he says to them, "If you don't wake up, I will come like a thief and you will not know what hour I come to you (Rev 3:3) SO THAT STRUCK ME TOO....SO LIKE, IF I AM AWAKE, DOES THAT MEAN THAT I WONT' BE SURPRISED WHEN HE COMES? AND WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT MEAN TO GOD FOR ME TO BE AWAKE?
This is just a tidbit. I am getting ready to get into it more....but if you have any comments, I would love to hear them.
I pray you will have a blessed day today. Eat well, stay fit, and have some time with God today.
Love,
Shelli
